Artstar Damien Hirst made history today by selling his whole new body of work at Sotherbys auction house.. bypassing the galleries, and going straight to his rich art buying fans, he pocketed 127 million dollars off the first session alone!

Bad ass post Mr. Silva, That shark would AWESOME on my coffee table.
I was curious about his means of obtaining the shark, and I'm fully dismayed to discover Mr. Hirst personally commissioned to have his sharks (yes, plural) caught + killed by an Australian fisherman. His works often explore the element of Death, but it seems to me it's more of a disregard for Life. If you explore more of his work, you'll find it strewn with animal carcasses (bulls, cows, lambs, bullsharks, tigersharks, flies, butterflies, etc.). It begs the question, is art more important than respecting another's right to live?

oOHHHH... i see, so it's similar to that body worlds show they had in vancouver (amoungst other places) a couple years ago..(i think?)
